Ohio Reach, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) and The Ohio Children’s Alliance (OCA), is accepting applications from accredited colleges, universities, and Ohio Technical Centers to provide supportive services to students with a history in foster care, kinship care, or out-of-home placement. The purpose of the Chancellor's directive is to establish supportive criteria, hereafter named the “Ohio Reach Postsecondary” Designation, necessary for Ohio’s public and independent colleges and universities and technical centers to be recognized as being supportive and inclusive of foster care-connected students.
Applications for the second cohort are now closed and will reopen in January of 2025. Look for more information on the Ohio Department of Higher Education Ohio Reach page. Institutions that are awarded with the designation will hold their designations for three years before needing to reapply.
A Press Release announcing the 2024 Ohio Reach Postsecondary Designated Institutions can be found here.
Ohio Reach aims to support institutions as they plan and launch supportive programming. A handbook can be found here, offering best practices and advice for new and established campus programs.
